WRITER'S MEME: Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of the top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

1. Lost Gods. It's probably cheating to list a series, but LG means a lot to me. It started, as do most stories, with me being ticked off. I was tired of fantasy books that wanted to kill all the bad gods and save the world from them. My thinking was - if gods created the world, it would kinda fucking suck if they bit it, right? From there it bled into dragons, because I love and adore dragons. Not long after that, I added in all my other favorites as I figured out what I was doing. I'm not sure how many caught on that Burning Bright was me playing loose and fast with 'Ivan and the Wolf,' my favorite Russian fairytale. Stone Rose was also based loosely on a fairytale, Poison was a very vaguely fae-like world and also a chance to make a real culture out of shapeshifters, and Chaos I wanted to be a classic redemption story. But mostly I wanted gods not to be bad, and for their presence to be a good thing. All that aside, no one could possibly love some of those couples more than me. It's not the best fantasy series out there, but I'm damned fond of it.

2. Prisoner. I'm not sure I even need to bother explaining this one. It was a combination of things I wanted to prove and play with -- that there is a way to properly do enemies --> lovers, that a bastard can stay a bastard and not go all goddamn floofy, and though it didn't get much of a role I wanted to play with the concept of magic at the cost of a serious addiction. I developed the arcen way more than ever makes the book, and if I ever wrote more of the verse it would be to play more with that. Most of my stories I'm content with, but Prisoner I love and adore and will forever. It's a rare case of me feeling like I actually accomplished something more than sparkles and light. It was also fucking hard as hell, and the more hair I tear out over a story, the more I tend to love it in the end.

3. The Ogre of the Black Mountain. There's probably no good reason to be so fond of this one, but it was my first attempt at a mostly original fairytale, and the classic quest style was always among my favorites. I like how it plays out, and for all that it's simple and predictable, I think it's cute and does the job. The awkward prince was fun to write, I loved the legend of the Ogre...like I said, it's not much, but I had a lot of fun writing it at the time and still think of it fondly even though it's sister story continues to thwart me.

4. Brightleaf. Another original fairytale, written for my beloved Wobbly. A very rare case of a story coming off exactly as I want, even though I think I had to make about a bajillion corrections before my betas were satisfied. I like the details I for once managed, Thorley amuses me to no end and it's rare that I get to do something like the misunderstanding between them toward the end. Probably a silly thing to note, but it sticks in my mind for whatever reason. They're fun, and the goblin culture was fun to create. The whole verse was, really.

5. Sandstorm. I'm not sure I ever really said how much I love this story, this verse. I read most anything, so there's a lot I adore, which is why I rant and rave so much about shit that's done poorly. But gods, I've always loved deserts and desert settings and for as long as I can remember nothing I've read or seen measures up to what I want. I'm sure an expert in this genre or setting or culture type or whatever would laugh my book right out of the store, but I did make an effort at research and all. This one is also dear to me because the cultures built up liek woah. It's always fun for me when worlds expand beyond the limits of the story itself -- and seldom do I get to clash the cultures so much. I wish I could do it more, but the bulk of the story takes place in the Desert. I also love the chars to death, they're each so different. Isra and Shihab are easy to write, but Sahayl and sometimes Bahadur could be so hard x_x But I like the challenge most of all, so the story is dear. Wish I could make the last bloody chapter work, yargh.

It's kinda hard narrowing it down to five. All my stories mean something to me, and there are precious few I hate.

And Ogre! I LOVE that fairytale! *bounces excitedly* ^________^!!! It just had so many perfect elements to it and it stayed sweet and original and fresh the entire way through and Zayn was just teh love. *______*

*tackle hearts* And I will always love Treasure and the LG series because it's one of the first stories of yours that I ever read. :3 *tackle hearts*

My fav off of that list is #3. Namely because it IS so cute and fluffy, and it just always makes my day go all smiley without having to read an entire epic. Not that I have anything against epics, mind you! It's just that when work is crappy, bite-sized fairy tales sustain me from break to break. ^__^ Seriously, though? I'm amazed you can pick. *nods*

I have to admit, 3 surprised me too. Probably because I have so much trouble myself picking a favourite between the fairytales. I'm pretty sure it's Brightleaf, though. Or Perfect. OR Main Gauche, or...gah, no, stop.

Also: just re-read Prisoner. Purrrrr...so much love. Especially for the dynamics between the characters--it all just fits so well. And it has such hilarious lines...my favourites in this case mostly pertaining somehow to Kalan or Esta. Mostly Kalan--I have a terrible habit of falling in love with random side characters when they're written well. And the thing with names made me *so* happy...

Anyways, I commend you for being able to pick favourites since I obviously can't. :P

I've always loved deserts and desert settings

When [livejournal.com profile] velithya and I were playing the Aladdin world in Kingdom Hearts II I was just thinking how much I love desert settings. Must make certain I have read Sandstorm.

Yo! Time for another random delurking!

I must say that your #2 is my #1 for the exact same reasoning! In fact, it probably ranks #1 out of all the online fiction I've read (wait, did that just sound weird?). It drives me nuts when characters pull a 180, and out of the blue, go from enemies to lovers >_

Personnally I'm still in love with prisonner. When I started to read I was ready to bet my right hand that the characters would all just turn into gentle heroes but it was nice to have them keep the baddy attitude. And Sandstorm was something too. I also like stories about desert setting and tribes. You seemed to create a whole univer just under our eyes and it was a nice feeling.
The Ivan and wolf story didn't go unnoticed hey have you ever seen the comic strip they made with this one?

Lurker here. I am an avid reader or your stories and love every single one - they are awesome. I can't wait to read them on lulu!

If I had to pick my favourite it would be Rainbow in the Lord Enterprise universe. A special plea here (puppy dog eyes inserted) please put Paradise to the top of your writing to do list!
