and anyone else, really, who has been feeling under the weather of late <3

Not Sick

"I am not sick," Thorley snarled, jerking away from the hand his brother tried to lay on his arm. "Get away from me."

Von glared at him. "Shut up. You're sick."

"Not," Thorley snapped. "If you don't get your hand off me, it's going to become breakfast."

"No, it won't – because you can't keep anything on your stomach for more than five seconds!"

Thorley shoved him away when Von again tried to touch him, instantly regretting the sudden movement. Ugh. He was not sick, but he sure felt like shit.

It was all Geoffrey's fault anyway for first treating those aggravating bigots and then leaving three and a half days ago to go take care of still more idiots.

He snarled a warning in goblin speech as his brother once more tried to touch him. "Get away from me!"

"Then lay down or drink some tea or something!" Von bellowed back. "You've got the village terrified half to death of you, Kit contemplated strangling you, and I'm about to simply beat the shit out of you if you don't act—" He bit the words off with a snarl of frustration.

"Act human?" Thorley finished coolly, glaring at him.

"You know what I mean, you ass."

Thorley turned away, wishing the floor would hold still or at least move more slowly. "Go away."

Von snarled a few choice descriptions of his behavior in goblin speech, ending with a tart goodbye before storming out and slamming the door.

Thorley slumped down in his chair by the fireplace. Thanks to his earnings and the generous assistance of a few villagers who did not hold Thorley against Geoffrey, their new cabin was fine indeed. An entire section of it just for them, not including the upstairs bedroom, with two large front rooms Geoffrey could use to tend patients and make his various concoctions. Further bounties had allowed them to acquire good furniture, including the chair he sat in – the only thing that was even remotely close to comfortable right now. He sighed and slowly sat up – but the world gave a nasty lurch and he abruptly slouched back down, letting his head fall against the back of the chair.

Not moving was good. Finding the idiot bigots who were responsible for making him feel like shit would be better. Making Geoffrey come home right now would be best. Looked like all he was going to get was 'good'. At least all the idiots and Von had finally left him alone. He was a goblin, they should know better than to keep pestering him when he said to go away. If they were scared, that was their dumb problem. He'd warned them.

The door opened and Thorley hoped it wasn't anyone he'd have to kill or yell at, because right now all they'd get was whatever was left in his stomach. Which was nothing, but his stomach didn't seem to be buying that.

A cool hand landed on his brow, and the tension abruptly bled from his body. "I was starting to think you weren't coming back" he said tartly, hoping that didn't sound as pathetic as he suspected.

Geoffrey chuckled softly. "You're burning up, lover. Can you make it to bed?"

"If I have to," Thorley groused.

"Your only other option is the sickroom."

Thorley heaved a long, aggravated sigh and slowly stood up, begrudgingly not resisting the steadying hand Geoffrey wrapped around his upper arm.

Getting upstairs seemed to take forever, and Thorley thought hazily that he would probably find that funny later, given that the only other time getting upstairs took so long was when they were too busy making out to actually get undressed.

He collapsed on the bed and didn't fight as he was stripped of everything but his breeches.

"Stay there," Geoffrey said, gentle fingers stroking his brow, brushing his hair from his face.

Thorley thought to ask where the hell else Geoffrey thought he would go, but couldn't work up the energy. He waited in a cloud of misery, dozing lightly until he heard the clip of Geoffrey's boots, felt that cool hand on his brow again before he was being helped to sit up.

"Drink this," Geoffrey said, voice soft but firm.

Obediently Thorley did so, nose wrinkling at the taste – but he would never argue, no matter how sick he was, with what Geoffrey made him drink or eat or whatever. Not when he knew what Geoffrey went through to make those antidotes. He was Geoffrey's keeper, he would take the medicines without complaint.

The bowl empty, he was set back down – but not on the pillow. No, that was definitely Geoffrey's lap…

"'Bout time you got home," he mumbled, eyes already growing heavy as the medicine went to work.

Soft, fond laughter washed over him. "Missed you too. Feel better."

Awwww, Thorley is so danged cute when he's being a jackass. I honestly swore that that Von was going to tell him to act his age, not act human.

And I love Geoffrey and how he is completely able to bring Thorley to heel.

*tackle hearts* I love this. In no way because I am sick too. Nope. That tickle in the back of my throat? It's going away any moment now... I love Thorley in all his growly snarliness and I love the way that Geoffrey completely sees through it to the heart of the matter.

Also, I had to go back and reread Brightleaf because Thorley and Geoffrey are just the love. *hearts* You rock the world. ^___^

I love Thorley and Geoffrey...and the rest of this world. I am so jealous, when I get sick there is no one...it would be nice to be pampered when your sick, even if you have to scare everyone else away!!! I hope I've had my one bad sick stretch already this year, spiking a 102 fever for two and a half days... Anyway great story, hopefully we'll get to see more of these two and Thorley's brother and lover!!

^^ I think the sweetest part about Thorley is how he never complains about the medicines Geoffrey makes for him when he knows just how much trouble it takes to make them. Very squee-worthy. XDXDXD

So very cute, I love Thorley and Geoffrey and am always happy to see more of them. I love the rhythm of this drabble, kind of soothing, you just read it and enjoy it slowly. Sweet drabble anyway thanks for it.

I believe your stories are far better against the cold than medicine (at least they are much sweeter and don't make me drowsy).

Awwww--Thorley's love sick for Geoffrey, pardon the pun.

Too cute, and yeah, the 'flu really seems to be making the rounds lately, huh? Half my family and friends are sick!
