for skylark
Sep. 30th, 2007 11:02 amSorry it took so long ^^;; I hope you are feeling much better.
Kiah startled as he heard a sound.
Beynum had set him today to learning all the secret halls of the palace; since it was part of their duties to protect Shah and part of protecting him was knowing how to get him quickly to safety. That typically meant guiding him through the secret tunnels that ran througout the palace, and Beynum said the best wya to learn them was to explore them on his own.
Personally he wondered how much mischief Beyhum had been up to when he'd learned the tunnels.
It sounded, though, like he was far from alone in the tunnels. Who else might be using it? He turned the corner and stopped.
"Kiah," Shah greeted warmly. "I thought I heard unfamilar footsteps nearby. I will know your tread now."
"Majesty," Kiah greeted, cheeks heating as Shah moved close enough to touch. One hand went to his hair, which he kept loose and long unless Nanda decided to do something more intricate with it for court or banquets. The other smoothed down his arm, across his stomach, and it still left him so dizzy that this fine and handsome King who could have anyone and already possessed four incredible men, had given him the last place in his harem.
He immediately opened to the mouth that covered his, utterly enthralled with Shah's kisses. The most he'd ever had before was a few brief sessions that amounted to little more than play with some of his friends. It was something else altogether to be the focus of years of experience and skill, to be the focus of the passion of his King. He shivered and clung tightly, fingers tangling in the sleeve's of Shah's robe, surrendering wholly to the hands that explored him, the mouth that consumed him. The law said that as royal concubine he was the property of the King; no other may touch him, all he said and did was reported back to Shah, and unless Shah cast him out he was nothing but the King's property until the King died.
Kiah had realized rather quickly he was more than content with that.
The dark tunnels were cool, not least of all because he was bare-chested. Shah by contrast was nearly hot and Kiah was more than happy to be tugged close, flush againt Shah, more shivers drawn out by knowing touches, the contrast of hot and cold.
"You are going to make me late, pretty Kiah," Shah murmured, not sounding terribly upset.
Kiah laughed against his mouth. "How can a King be late when nothing begins until you arrive? Would you not always be exactly on time?" Only a couple of months had he been in the palace, and even a month ago he would have been too shy to tease so...but he was getting a grasp on it, and he liked to make Shah laugh.
Shah laughed with him and kissed him again. "Perhaps a few minutes more, then. Are you learning the tunnels well enough, colt?"
"I'll certainly remember this part," Kiah said, grinning when Shah's laughter filled the tunnel, still smiling when the kisses resumed.

Date: 2007-09-30 04:19 pm (UTC)Oh, good grief. You are swiftly becoming Enemy #1.
Speaking of you:
"You did it!"
Pierce ooffed as he caught the bundle of silk and ribbon that flew into his arms, laughing. "Of course I did it, goose. You're being unseemly again, Cress."
"Pish posh," Cressida replied, slowly releasing him, ignoring or oblivious to the way the enthusiastic embrace had crushed the various bows and frills of her afternoon dress. "You're my best friend and you've just won the most prestigious duel in the country." She reached up to kiss his cheek.
"Cress!"
She grimaced and rolled her eyes, then turned to greet her father, who continued to berate his only daughter while Pierce found himself attacked by all his fans and friends.
He fought his way through the crowd, accepting compliments, chatting briefly here and there, knowing he should be loving the attention but really wanting nothing more than to find his room and a bit of quiet.
And maybe a letter, of course, but…
"Pierce."
He looked up and broke into a genuine smile, not hesitating to embrace his older brother and then Artemis. "You made it."
"Of course we made it," Artemis said. "The carriage suffered a broken wheel, but we had spare horses for just such an occurrence and rode the rest of the way. I think Gideon was ready to simply run all the way here but thankfully we weren't forced to resort to such matters."
Gideon snorted and shook his head, regarding his lover with amused exasperation. "Stop trying to humiliate me."

Date: 2007-09-30 04:24 pm (UTC)And a snippet for a snippet:
Glancing back up, Anike’s eyes gravitated automatically to where Calo and Reni had been sitting. He frowned softly, surprised to see them no longer there. But perhaps they were finally dancing? Only Anike’s scan of the ballroom didn’t reveal them to be anywhere in sight.
They’d probably cut out early. It wasn’t unusual for foreign ambassadors to do that, especially once the other guests got a bit into their cups quite vigorously. Unfortunately, that didn’t mean that Anike could go. It did mean that he could sneak down to get something to drink later without worrying about them.
Smiling quickly, Anike bent his head and began sketching in skirts again. He’d only just started in on the prince and his fiancée when warm hands slid across his shoulders from behind.
Anike startled badly, losing his pencil and knocking his sketches to the floor as he leapt away from the out-of-nowhere touch. Turning sharply, he tried to calm his heart down as he caught sight of Calo’s smile.
“How did you get in here?” Anike hissed, running a hand through his hair and knocking his spare pencil from behind his ear to the floor to join the other one.
“Through the door,” Calo replied with an easy smirk, looking far too smug and it didn’t help that he looked so much better in his dark, formal clothing up close than he did from across the ballroom.
“It was locked,” Anike snapped, still trying to recover from his fright. Still, if Calo was here, where was Reni? Not that he wanted either ambassador close enough for him to make a fool of himself again, but Anike preferred to have both of them where he could see them.
“Was being the key word,” Calo drawled, sauntering around Anike’s chair and taking a seat in it. “Where have you been, pretty artist?”
“Working,” Anike replied shortly, stooping to collect his sketches. They were hopelessly out of order, and Anike sighed but began to sort them into the pages he’d already completed for the evening and the blank sketches of the ballroom he was filling out. Calo watched with interest, but he didn’t try to interrupt. Anike snatched up his pencils, frowning at Calo before moving to the other chair. He tugged it close to the balcony’s edge, setting up his drawing board again.

Date: 2007-09-30 04:18 pm (UTC)Kiah is adorable. And I love that even though he's a part of Shah's harem, he's still as awed by Shah as he ever was. And I love, love, love that Shah can be commanding and come across as intimidating, but that he obviously cares deeply for his harem and for Kiah. He sees himself as the lucky one to have them just as Kiah feels lucky to be a part of them. He's just so cool. <3 And I adore Kiah's light teasing. *tackle hearts* You rock! ^_^
