Jewels of Bangkok. No rhyme or reason, I was asked and it cooperated.

Catching the twins asleep was a rare sight.

Oh, not when they were in bed, though it was rare they were left alone long enough to spend a full night in bed.

Rarer still, rare enough he could count on one hand the number of times he'd seen it, was catching them napping somewhere.

The top of every tower housed rooms intended for the exclusive use of the Daie family and all those granted that highest level of clearance.

Black Dragon Tower held the best of the best, the place the twins called home whenever they held still long enough. Of all the rooms available there, the Starlight Lounge was their personal favorite. Black velvet and diamonds scattered across the walls and ceiling, backlit so they shone just so, tables of glass and ebony.

In the dim light, they were hard to see clearly, but Elton could see them well enough. Stretched out on the couches on either side of the long coffee table in the center.

They looked as alike in sleep as they did awake – they even slept the same, with the arm on the inside of the couch tucked under their heads, other arm draped across their stomachs. Mirror images, right down to the way their heads were turned so they faced each other while they dozed.

Baxter was on the left. Lucid on the right.

If someone had asked him how he knew it, Elton's answer would not have satisfied.

So many things they had in common, perfect diamonds on black velvet. The same ink-dark hair, the same flawless pale skin. Elegant hands and graceful builds. Yet they were not exactly alike, and no matter how many times he said it, no one really got it.

Day light or dark, a brightly lit ballroom or a dimmed private lounge…

They sparkled differently, that was all.
