half-elf, half vampire
Mar. 18th, 2008 06:29 pmFor the curious, here is a link to the book that still is making me laugh. Though not as much as the gem review
tsaiko posted. Oh, gods, must stop thinking about it or will die dead of laughter again.
Today's prime gem at work, on trying and failing to discuss intelligence and other such things, I was informed that it's just shopping. She likes to shop, I like being smart. I could think of no reply to that, and changed the topic shortly thereafter. The chick is fun to converse with, she really is, and I cannot help but admire anyone who renders me so completely speechless, for whatever reason.
The rain needs to go away.
To help her deal with the fact that Jesus stole her porn, or the provider of her porn, I offered to write
avalon13 porn. She requested Dixie/Kitty (the poor guy, he no longer gets his name, just 'Kitty').
First, I am off to distract myself briefly. Then to write a sekkret project that will not see the light of day for some time, but hopefully will be worth the wait (but, because I luffs to tortue, I will say I'm glad so many readers of Lessons liked Bart, cause it's his turn on the chopping block).
Also, I'm reading a somewhat amusing book - A Treasury of Royal Scandals: The Shocking True Stories History's Wickedest, Weirdest, Most Wanton Kings, Queens, Tsars, Popes, and Emperors Not usually my scene, but I wanted something amusing to read. Really the book is kinda o_O You crazy Europeans have no leg upon which to stand calling us Americans loco ^_~ Anyway, my main point is -- most of the royals they mention as being gay or likely to have been gay are not surprising me. The one that did was Richard Lionheart or whatever they call him. Cause that immediately made me think of Robin Hood, and how I've always sort of passively wished I could do honest to god period stuff, cause everyone is typically inclined to slash Robin Hood and Will Scarlet (and mind you, I'm more than happy to put up with the incest), but I always thought it would be more fun to put Robin with the Sheriff (and make him not really zomgevil, cause really, not necessary) and then do something interesting with Friar Tuck for to hook him up with Scarlet. Or maybe Scarlet with the Sheriff, there'd be lots of violent!sex there. Hmm. I need more period writers on my flist, who are not necessarily opposed to bribes.
Hmm. Think that's all I've got. Has the rain gone away yet? Ah, well. Off I go to wreak havoc elsewhere.

Date: 2008-03-18 10:41 pm (UTC)Then again, all I had to do was look at the authors to cringe. x.x Ugh.
(DIXIE! *___* Kitty. *snicker* Oh man, that's awesome. Poor Greg. First a silly codename, then a silly nickname!)

Date: 2008-03-18 11:26 pm (UTC)(It was actually a good book, it's just impossible to use the word 'elf' without it seeming instantly silly.)
When you first brought it up I thought you were proposing Ricard/Robin, which would have some interesting power dynamics...

Date: 2008-03-18 11:27 pm (UTC)The first thing I was ever taught in school, was that Little John was Hawt. Also, historically, Maid Marion never existed, she was added in later by play writers, so I can believe that Mr Hood was gay ^_^ Him and Little J... interesting. Not as interesting as Scarlet and the Sheriff though. Robin Hood is my Fav <3
You is Love. I hope you dont get soak-ted.

Date: 2008-03-19 04:16 am (UTC)Oh man, Richard the Lionheart. There's this legend about how Richard got captured by war enemies, so then his faithful troubador Blondel traveled the countryside, looking for the building where Richard was imprisoned. He would walk from castle to castle, singing the king's favorite song. And then one day he heard Richard join in, and that's when he knew he'd finally found the king.
I love that story, so the first time I ever heard it, I immediately recounted it to my grandma--a huge history buff--and I was all, "Wasn't that a crazy level of loyalty on Blondel's part? Talk about going way beyond your job description." And my grandma just said, "Well, not that crazy. They were lovers. Richard the Lionheart was gay."
(I was like, twelve at the time. It kind of blew my mind.)
Anyway, he moral of the story is that my grandma is awesome.
Oh, and also you should totally write Robin Hood slash. *nods*

Date: 2008-03-20 09:16 am (UTC)I think traditionally he's just one of the Merry Men. But I know some versions have him as a cousin or nephew to Robin, and sometimes he's Robin's brother or half-brother, which is the variation I always preferred ^^;
