She's taunting me...

Just finished Joust by Mercedes Lackey - the book rocks. I knew once I started reading her stuff I'd get addicted. Now I need sequels to like three of her books (remarkably only one is a Valdemar story).

But this one - dragons, wars, all the good stuff. And my god man, the slash potential b/t Ari and Vetch. Aaarrggghhh. It's there, it's so entirely there except Vetch is like 13 by the end of the book and I'd rather wait until he's legal but still it's all set up - even the angst and argh it makes me *twitch twitch* with the need to read more. I need the next book like right now.

Why does this always happen when I'm flat broke? The gods are laughing at me.

Haha! Slash potential?? Yes, I perfectly agree with you! But also with the fact that it is going to be kinda hard with him being around 13... but then he said himself that he doesn't know his real age in the beginning when talking to Haraket.

If you wish, go to http://www.mercedeslackey.com and read the first three chapters of Alta. After doing so, I really wish to read it... but like I said, I am pretty broke. Lol!

lol, yeah I wouldn't want to see Ari hititng on a 13 (or so) Vetch, but I figure a great deal of time is going to pass before everything is over with...I'm allowed my delusions anyway.

Oh...to read or not to read...I think if I read it I might twitch more.

I agree that there is mad slash potential between the two, but I hate the ending. It has a way unfinished feel. You say there is going to be a sequel?

Yep! It's out in hardback now I think, but like miika I'm too poor to afford it.

I am, too.... there's also the limited space issue of army barracks ^_^. Maybe I can steal it or borrow it or... something. And obviously if either one of them ends up getting together with a girl, I'll be so disappointed. I don't know if I could take that. She made it Very clear in the first book that Ari prefers girls, and that worries me... more how many times it was mentioned than that he has that preference in the first place.

I dunno, it seems to me it was overemphasized. I don't see Ari settling down anyway, if any one is going to get The Chick it'll be Vetch (NONONO!)

Unfortunately, I have a sinking suspicion that the pairings may be straight. Though I am praying that they're not... just with the way things are going: the fact that they're supposed to be enemies (okay, it would add a nice sense of secrecy), the fact pointed out by stardance that Ari leans towards girls.. and the fact that Vetch (Kiron - I like that name better) feels Ari is like a father figure... err, or brother...

Survey says you're probably right, but until they're dashed I'll keep my hopes up. I like Kiron better too, I just didn't know if I was spoiling anything for others by using the name.

It seems to me like Mysty did her little LHM thing and her little Firesong thing, and then was over the slash bunnies. *sigh* Most of Misty's stuff is straight without fail.

Have not read it but I'm sure I'd see the potential too. Apperently I "can't even read a book without seeing slash in it". ::nods:: Must try and get.
