maderr: (Three is better)

I am noticing a trend in a lot of ebooks lately with male threesomes. If it's m/m/f then everyone is happy and together and equal. But the past few threesomes I've read where it's all guys, the relationship really isn't fair on all parts. Someone is just a toy along for a brief ride, or the two share the uke but one is his lover and the other is 'allowed' to stay. I wonder why it is done this way. It's not really fun to read at all. The HEA rule does not change just because it's a moresome. If not everyone is happy and treated fairly, then it just leaves a sour aftertaste.

I also don't care for the m/f/m arrangement. I've read a few, and they always come off wrong. That and more often than not the chicks annoy me. Why must so much of the het world be filled with OSCs?

It's a mystery.

If I had the energy, I'd just write my own - but I did one recently, and I lack said energy.

I like m/m/f menages, I really do. But, you're right. It's hard to find good ones.
Every time I think I've found one, it turns out to be m/f/m where the males don't want to touch each other at all, and that just makes me cranky.

Yeah, that's a major pet peeve there. I should have thought to mention it. It's hardly a threesome if the boys only touch the girl and avoid each other.

I have this idea that the relationships in those types of stories reflect the author's own idea of the lack of longevity or stability in polyamorous relationships. Usually the smut is a one-night-stand deal or even otherwise, there isn't much of a balanced relationship between all three.

Oh yeah, I remember one fic that did a Heero/Duo/Trowa relationship and I really enjoyed it - Getting To Know Me by Joosetta. It's no longer online though *sigh*

Which makes me wonder why they bother. I mean I fully agree it's gotta be rare a poly relationship works. I won't say never, cause I'm sure there are people who manage it. But if you have no ability to even romanticize it, which is all that's required, let's be honest, then why bother writing it? Write something with which you're comfortable - that would make for a much happier read.

YES - that's the whole reason I love them in fics - 'cause there's no reason not to have the relationship just WORK.

Threesomes/moresomes in fics are usually just included for the kink factor :( It's much easier to find a good menage a trois than a fic focussing on their interaction and lives...

I...am confused, since you have several threesomes. Or do you mean specifically two male and one female?

No, I just meant I'd recently written a threesome, so I'm not really up to writing another one again so soon? I have no m/m/f. All men, mine.

Well, yeah, I realize that you have no m/m/f, but I was just checking if that was what you meant by not having one.

Although, you know...foursome might be nice. I'd like to see Lana get some Bangkok action. And who better with than the best? *hides*

what does OSC mean?

and i don't know how many read 'smart bitches trashy books.com' but they reviewed a (more) horrid (than usual?) menage a trois. it wasn't equal in pretty much any way, and the premise for the threesome itself was ridiculous. but the review is everything that is wonderful, and the bitches come up with lolporn. i highly recommend it.

OSC = Obligatory Stupid Chick

It's a terminology [livejournal.com profile] maderr and our brother came up with way back when to describe the majority of female characters in the games they played. We've thus expanded its usage to include fictional female characters in all genres and platforms. (And that's probably way more definition than you needed/wanted ^_^)

Will be using that term from now on. Properly describes so many characters X_x

Threesome fics pretty much never live up to my expectations. And the ones that could work tend to not go in depth, too short to really get a full and satisfying picture.

I don't really like threesomes unless they're all guys or all girls, but maybe that's just because I've never found a good m/m/f threesome story. I'd write one, but...bleh. I'm not really sure how. I'm a threesome n00b. XD

I have a m/f/m trio that works :o I don't write about them (yet), though . . . they actually were developed through the dolls I collect ^^;;; (I have yet to get the girl of the group as a doll, though . . . that's okay, the boys amuse themselves with each other happily in the meantime.)

I've read one threesome fic (other than yours) that was good enough to make me weep. It's online and not published (great for me of course XD)

What does HEA stand for?

There is this particular manga I'm fond with an interesting more-some - three guys and one girl. The girl plays a central role here. Without her, I doubt the boys would even think of looking at each other that way.

For the curious, it's "Be Thirsty of/or Love" by Yukine Honami. :)

My BF's Parents are a m/m/f trio. I found out that her mom fell in love with her dad, even though she was a lesbian and he was a gay dude, so they got together. And then they met 'Roger', and knew they loved all needed eachother. I thought it was really neat how you could love someone for them. <3

(and truly, her Momma is NOT a OSC. She scares me, actually. >___>;;)
