I so should not have entered this bloody contest -__- My books have dropped to positions 17 and 31, and I'm going to fret myself to death wondering if I'll get back to and stay in the top 10 until the 25th finally rolls around.

WTF was I thinking?

Dude, I'm not saying I'm throwing in the towel or regret it or think I accomplished nothing. I'm just saying I'm the kind to obsess and fret even when I have no reason. I'm a little bit of a perfectionist. I typically avoid competition of any sort b/c I'm the type who will take it too seriously if I don't watch myself. I'm just saying it makes me twitchy, that's all.

I didn't vote because I was too lazy to create an account (said I had to if I wanted to vote). But I think I will go do that now, especially since I do enjoy your stories.

You were thinking that it was a good way to get your name and writing out more? ::hugs:: Good luck! If I rate the topmost down low, will that help?

*hugs*

It's still early in the game Hunny x

Oh... and agreeing with Nikerymis here. It started of as a way to be reconised... remember? Thats why it's there, dont give up just yet, there's along way to go and you're doing great, people are enjoying it and thats all that matters... even if you dont win

I just looked and Prisoner is back up to 8. Don't worry so much over winning. I think you've gained plenty of attention for your writing and at least a good few new fans :). And hey, in the top 10 or 25 is still damn good. There were a lotta books in the competition to begin with and you made it through. :)

First off, you tried. At least you threw yourself out there. Secondly, you did recieve a larger number of people reading your work. Considering that only a few people comment on your LJ,(say 30-40) and a few people who didn't bother going on LJ or lurk (10-20), you still had a good number of people read your work and comment. That counts for something. You also recieved feedback (I'm only going to count the constructive ones and not the idiots who just complained without anything to back it up. Also, it's just the start and people are still voting. Wait till the end. *Voted already* When I voted, you where in the top and this competition jumps up and down quickly. Breath and don't bum yourself out. You've gone farther than many writers and at least you're representing a genre that wasn't seen in the competition. Considering it's a taste that is liked by a few, you did pretty damn good.

like everyone else said, you did this to spread the word and in that you have had success :) Plus it's still early in the game, though it might be better to avoid looking at the list right now cause it's bound to fluctuate a lot while people finally get around to rating up to 60 books. And on top of that, this competition is open to a very wide audience and not everyone is going to like the genre you write in. i know i don't bother with self help books or spiritual stuff ^^;;

Wishes a ton of GOOD luck

Thing that might help is that if you tell people that anything they did for phase 1 doesn't carry over to phase 2.

*delurks*

I avoid conscious competition too, because then I fret and I'm a rather sore loser. But the thing is... These are books, you know? They're not even divided into categories and you can get contemporary just as you can get slash or sci-fi. All the books are there pele-mele, and if people don't buy your book because the first chapter put them off, they can't really rate it or criticize it now, can they?

... I suppose what I'm trying to say is it doesn't really matter. You've most likely gained new followers, and that's what' the most important, isn't it? Ratings unfortunately don't make good books, and every person has different tastes. I love your stuff xD

(Okay, leaving now because of an exam in a hour that will determine my future... Holy shite.)
