maderr: (WTF???)

Usually I print things to pdf, and I get a pdf. Right now, though, it's not doing shit. It prompts me to save...then nothing. It was working just fine a couple days ago, I have no idea why it's doing this now.

What program are you using?

Word. I've done it a thousand times with no problem. Suddenly today, it does nothing -__-

That's so very weird. Though I've heard of other people having the problem (though in that case it was with Firefox not letting them create a PDF all of a sudden). You can download CutePDF and it will let you do the exact same thing (print to a PDF file). It would be a way to still get a PDF until MSWord decides not to act like a bitch.

The only other thing I can think of is to check and see if there's an Adobe update.

Does it create a corrupted file? Sometimes when I create a PDF at work it'll create a half-finished file and not open it but call it done. But re-printing it usually works so I have nothing. :|

Yeah, no good. It doesn't create anything at all. It prompts me to save, processes the pages like it would if printing to an actual paper - then nothing. None of the usual pdf stuff pops up.

Um, maybe trying printing it to a different location? Is it just one word file or is it all your word files?

all of them. yargh.

Uh, wait a couple hours and try again? Did you try turning it off and turning it back on again? ^__~

Sorry I'm useless - but if you didn't change anything then maybe it'll work out the problem on its own?

I've been trying for the past several. I've been home since four. I've tried shutting off, restarting, all of it.

I'd offer to create PDFs for you until it was fixed, but I don't have the right software installed. Is there something you need done tonight?

No, it's just bloody fucking annoying. I'd planned to be done with Sandstorm tonight so I could get the proofs for it and Prisoner together. As per usual, my plans blow up in my goddamn face. It's not urgent, just fucking annoying, and the ultimate problem is that I apparently can no longer print bloody pdfs, which ruins all my book ambitions, cause I fucking hate having to rely on other people for stupid shit.

I vote you beat your laptop till it gives up the goods. ^__~

But yeah, I get the self-sufficient thing. I wish I was more help, but I don't really have much experience with Adobe PDF makers. Just the one at work, and all it ever does is crap out halfway once in a while.

*laugh* A tempting idea.

Nah, tsaiko's thing seems to be working. I wonder what this stupid computer will do to me next.

Yay! Though I think asking that question is tempting fate. ::glomps::

You checked your default printer, or the one it's printing too? I realize you probably have, but I know that after I downloaded the trial version of Adobe and made a pdf it changed my default printer to something involving adobe itself. It did the same thing, prompted me to save and then did nothing.

I only figured it out by accident. Anyways, I hope you get it fixed. ^_^

I haven't messed with my settings. It's still set to adobe pdf? I'm not sure what I hsould be checking/changing.

See, when I want to print from Adobe, I have to to the Print Setup menu and under Printer Name select my Lexmark 2500 rather than Adobe PDF because it won't print otherwise.

I guess yours could be different. Lord knows I'm far from a printer/computer/electronic anything expert. ^_~

Well, I don't know why Word's gone wonky, but I do know a workaround. When you go to print, bypass the PDF thing entirely and (with your normal printer selected) tell it to Print To File. That'll save you a file.ps file (postscript) that you can then open with Adobe Distiller and convert to PDF. It's basically the same thing that usually happens automatically, only you're doing it manually this way.

Try CutePDF as Tsaiko suggested. Changes anything printable to PDF and it is pretty easy to use.
