Cause
dameange asked.
Bedros woke up feeling very much in danger. A chill at the back of his neck definitely seemed to say that he had maybe a minute left to live.
He had a sneaking suspicion, as his brain began to function, that it had to do with the pleasing expanse of naked flesh stretched out next to him. Resisting an urge to reach out and touch, as now was definitely not the time, he slowly rolled over to face his executioner. He was tempted to sit up, but he really was happier not to always be naked around people, and so contented himself to lay on his side, blankets firmly in place.
Kohar stood, hands braced on his hips, glaring at him in a way that always sent Nerek's soldiers running for cover. "I seem to recall someone telling me he would not take liberties with my little brother."
"I had planned on keeping my hands to myself, actually," Bedros said guiltily, wondering if Kohar was going to kill him quickly or slowly.
Probably slowly.
"Uh huh," Kohar replied, shoving back his wayward curls -- someone had stolen his combs again, or Kohar had been too mad to take the time to put his hair up.
Bedros winced.
"Technically speaking," rumbled a sleep-clogged voicie, "I started it." Taniel slowly shifted, sitting up just enough to drape himself over Bedros, winding an arm around his waist from behind, yawning sleepily up at Kohar with the lazy impunity only a sibling would dare display in such a situation. "You're not my keep, Ko'. Go molest your Captain and leave me to molest my Duke."
Kohar scowled. "Now see here--"
"Go away," Taniel said with a groan. "Why didn't we lock the door?"
"I have a key," Kohar snapped. "I came up here to say it looked as though you ran off in, and might I have permission to go hunt you down and kill you, but it would seem I was worrying for no good reason. If you two were so cozy you'd decided to move into his grace's quarters, the very least you could have done was inform me."
Bedros twisted to give Taniel a look, and saw the guilty wince.
"I was planning on leaving," Taniel said, a note of contrition in his voice. "Bedros persuaded me to stay."
Kohar rolled his eyes, then leveled a glare at Bedros. "Your intentions had better be honorable -- and you shut up!" He shifted the glare to his brother. "After all this nonsense, I have every right to worry, especially when there's an angry King about who might choose to take heads at any time. I finally get to see you again and it's nothing but headaches. Fine."
"Kohar..." Taniel sat up, pushing back his own hair, and it was incredibly funny how alike the brothers were in the way they shoved back their hair. "I'm sorry."
The brothers locked gazes for a long moment, then Kohar gave an annoyed sniff. "Just try to stay out of further trouble -- both of you." With a last warning look, he turned sharply on his heel and stalked from the room, slamming the door shut behind him.
"Well, that went well," Taniel said cheerfully, letting go and flopping down on the bed.
"That was well?" Bedros asked. He turned over, bracing himself on one elbow, not quite over his scare enough to touch all the loveliness on display.
Taniel snickered. "You should have seen him when he caught me with our language tutor. Now that did not go well."
Bedros shook his head and went easil as he was tugged down for a kiss, smoothing his free hand over Taniel's chest, slowly working his way further down. "Still, remind me not to anger your brother for the next few years."
The next kiss was harder and longer, and promised that they would not be leaving his bed for a very long time. "I know how to keep him in line. He might have caught me with the language tutor, but I caught him in the stables." Taniel snickered.
"I don't want to know," Bedros said firmly, and did not give Talien a chance to tell him anyway.
