Is there some new thing going around that I have missed, which makes it okay to fucking smoke while pregnant?

Becaus seriously, I've seen like four fucking women at work who are still smoking despite the fact they're waddling around and due any moment. What the hell? Is the nicotine so goddamn fucking important we can't give it up for nine measely months?

I want to punch them all in their fucking faces. I'll probably never have kids, I really don't think I'll ever be the settling down type, but if I did I'd give up my fucking caffeine while I was pregnant. Srsly. It's nine months. Grow the fuck up and stop smoking. It won't kill you. Quite the goddamn opposite.

My mom was really good for my sister's pregnancy. She didn't smoke in the house at all, not even during the middle of winter. Even now she takes the smoking outside when the niecething is around.

Oh, hey there, stranger. I'd been wondering if you were still alive, or if you finally got jumped by big foot trekking to your castle.

Thinking is overrated.

I agree. Unfortunately, I can't seem to stop myself and make a decision one way or the other (or the other) and it just means I'm driving myself nuts. ^__^;;

I second that. I'm not the settle down and reproduce type - kids and I just don't get along - but seriously? Don't smoke in your car with a two year old and four year old. WTF? Or you see them smoking with a freaking newborn in the backseat. Just hand them asthma on a silver fucking platter, would ya. Sheesh. My cousin's parents smoke around her and she has really bad asthma, and my best friend's folks smoke around her - even sent her to the hospital several times.

I fucking hate smokers. I really do - they foul everyone's air.

Seconded by a lot.

I try not to judge smokers as people, but every time I meet someone knew and then I find out they smoke, my respect for them drops a little bit. ¬_¬

Yeah, I agree. As people, they're fine unless proven otherwise. But it's so disappointing to find out they smoke. Even worse when it's a friend who just won't listen and quit, you know? It's the habit, I suppose, that I hate the most. I guess the sum of my feelings is just along the lines as disappointed. *shrugs* (I'm usually this confusing) It's like I hate smokers but I don't hate the people. (Sounds confusing, even to me)

No, not so confusing. I'm the same way--you like them as people, you do, but the smoking is an aspect that sometimes is hard even to believe much less just let go. >.> I always end up shoving the knowledge aside when I try to hang out with them, and generally the more I know them the more careful they are around me, but. Still. Yeah.

*blinkblink* that's so..... dumb...... so hypocritical... I have no words!

it seems to me smokers are rather selfish when it comes to their smokes, no matter how nice they are otherwise. The smokers at work get way more breaks than the non-smokers, cause we don't have set breaks, apart from lunch. So they'll just "pop out for a smoke", while the non-smokers have no such convenient excuse.

My (non-smoking) mom and her (non-smoking) co-worker "popped out for an ice cream" once, and all the smokers just stared at them as if they'd lost their minds....

I have asthma due to how much my parents and grandma smoke around me, now i can just leave the room, but that really wasn't always the case. I also am allergic to cigarette smoke and have to be on Claritin-D just to function as a normal human being around it all. My grandma had been up to 5 packs a day before we cut her down.

For the love of god i can't wait til i find a house to buy, if for nothing else to get away from the smoke. *sigh* Been looking for 3 months now and still nothing.
