In further news, the new version of fairytales I'll be putting on amazon.

Pardon the shitty quality of the pictures. I was impatient and hurried, b/c my camera batteries are near death.



Several months ago, I had nowhere near the skill to do this, and not all my fairytales were ready to go in one book. I sort of feel like crap doing it now, though I never meant to be a jerk or anything by making two books, and then later making one.




That it sitting on top of one of the old fairytale books. I shrunk the font and the book size. It's not a huge difference, but it did cut the page count down to a little over 300 while making the book an inch or so smaller. Do we like? Not like.

Unfortunately, createspace and lulu don't agree on their smallest sized, the fuckers - and lulu lately is pissing me off, b/c I have to do everything bass ackwards for it to upload -- so this version is only available on amazon. But it's where I want to move everything eventually anyway.

I can give some design advice for the cover. But for you to choose to receive advice from a lurker such as myself, I completely understand if you would not.

*shrug* I don't mind, but at this point it's too late to change it, really. My skills are not even mediocre, I know, but I hadn't thought it was that awful *sigh*

Not awful. Just a little clumsy.

For things I'd adjust, if you had control over the black background, change it to a dark neutral or a dark warm grey. Black is too harsh for the mood/subject matter.

The other points are for the text, with kerning and alignment. I easily can see why you used the font for "Fairytales". But the same font for "Slashed" looks like it needs to be cleaned up. Like aligning the letters all to the same path or line, except for the "S". But the "S" could be brought up a little bit further, as to not appear tripped before "lashed".

I like where you've placed the text in relation to the flower. I'd clean it by moving it a little farther away from the flower, as to not be touching it, and moved "Fairytales" and "Slashed" a bit closer together so they won't appear so separated.

I know these are all mute points for you, I'm sorry. Unless you have a file I could adjust quickly for you, if it isn't already said and done.

Please don't move entirely off Lulu, or alternatively, find a way to continue offering your books in PDF. I'm probably in the minority here, but I'd much rather buy a PDF than get a dead-tree version. (And no, it's not the price, but rather the portability.)

Possibly when I get paid for my summer job, but then again, my parents have informed me that beyond tuition and board, I'll be expected to put in my fair share of paying for college (which, admittedly, is still not much compared to the grand total, but neither is my income).

Oh yeah, forgot to ask, any plans for the next book? Because I'd love to do a cover for it, especially since I've gotten more comfy with designing in 300dpi and fonts :) I've also got some ideas for vector artwork (I would have used an emblem for the Fairytales book and it would have had an image of a carriage on it ^_^) Though I could always do one according to your specification too

I love the new cover and like what you changes you are talking about. That sounds like it has more of a bookstore novel setup. Does that make any sense? Love it, but it's both Fairytales Slashed 1 & 2? Wish I could have shiny cover, however I'm not buying something twice. I love you, Maderr, but I'm broke and buying Sandstorm this month - or are you putting that up on Amazon too with a shiny new cover? (Cause I do like Sandstorm's current cover...)

I still have Prisoner Old Version 2.0 ;_; The new cover for that is sooo shiny... Th - OMG ANT WTF I HAVE ANTS?! - The questions in here are actually questions. Which books are you also planning on switching over and should I wait for Sandstorm to be switched or...?
