I don't actually know how it ends--haven't gotten that far. I do know, however, that it's about three girls who somehow get magical mermaid powers and turn into mermaids every time they touch ANY water on...the...outside of their skin...? I mean, they can drink things, but they can't touch the condensation on the glass it kinda gets really complicated really. And there was this one time they were at a pool party with a MILLION people, one girl fell into the pool, transformed, but no one noticed because then they were magically all inside the house?

And I am sorry, there are no merman even to ease it. They would have to be written in. Which would probably make the series make a bit more sense, if you thought about it, cause then they could pop up and, I don't know, be all "HI SO THIS IS WHAT IS HAPPENING AND WHY YOU SHOULDN'T GO TO POOL PARTIES EVEN THOUGH YOUR ENTIRE TOWN IS OBLIVIOUS." And then they'd "attack" antagonist boy. He really needs, er, "attacking."

At least you're closer to Australian TV than Hans Christian Anderson. In the original story, she had to kill the prince (who married another chick) to turn back into a mermaid. There is a distinct lack of asshole princes in need of stabbing in the general vicinity.

Ah, I see. If that is the case, I would avoid public pools till you're more certain of what might happen. Alerting the natives would not be the best of things. That happened in one of the Honey I Shrunk The Kids hour-long segments and the girl got kidnapped and put on display and DRAMATIC RESCUES had to be had.

...I know way too much about media mermaid happenings. Also, I am a dork. X_x and old geesh, those hour-segments were years ago.

XD I was such a little dork--I watched them with my younger brother every Sunday without fail. We taped them if we knew we'd miss them otherwise.

Funnily enough, I only saw the original movie years later, and I hated it.

Such a funny childhood. HISTK, Power Rangers, and Dragon Ball Z. Except the public broadcasting station canceled DBZ when Goku was on snake way, so my brother and I ended up watching about ten episodes in Spanish, because that channel still played it.

Er, if you don't know about DBZ, feel free to ignore that last bit. ^^;

Erm, I'm actually here to grovel: I just wrote this short story for one of my friends and it ended up bearing an uncanny resemblance to From Afar, with Silver writing letters to Pierce. Well, just the letters: friend had requested cyber sex, I ended up making them exchange emails.

Okay, now this sounds just weird: it's nothing like your story, but I think the concept is similar. Have no clue why that happened, but would you like me to credit you anyways?
