I think we played it in high school a couple of times, I remember the 'goal' was a sort of low-set bouncy net thing, and to score you had to bounce the ball off it.
From what I remember from playing it in gym class, it's like ultimate frisbee, but with a ball. You have to get the ball into the goal at the other end of the field by passing the ball to your teammates, and you can't run with the ball.
We played something they called handball in high school gym, though it looks different than what others are describing. It involved smacking a baseball-sized rubber ball against the wall. I can't remember any of the rules, but it was great for venting frustrations. I'd probably throw my shoulder out trying it now.
Never seen a sport like in the second link. The handball in the first link is the sport I know and it's fairly popular here (in Germany). Basically you have two seven-player-teams and two goals. If I remember correctly there was this rule about only being allowed to make 3 steps before you HAVE TO "dribble" the ball and you're not allowed to touch down on the marked zone on front of the goal if you're still touching the ball in any way. That's the way we played it in school, anyway.
.....well, I suppose it's one of those mostly European things, really. it's fairly fun to watch, though, and the rules are quite similar to soccer. You just reverse the hand-foot thing; in soccer you're not allowed to have your hands on the ball when it's in play, in handball, you're not allowed to kick the ball (the keeper being the exception in both sports).

1) the goal is on the ground and not high up
2) they have goalkeeper
