wishful thinking

I so wish I could buy a house. I would love, finally, to really and truly have a place that is MINE. It’s not that I’m ungrateful about what I have now, because I’m not. I’m fully aware how goddamn lucky I am.

But, I am hoping for rykaine to come join me in the next few months. We have big plans. We are hoping to see another friend as well, around the same time. I wish I had a place to call my own, cause I’m so tired of being under the thumb of others, of having no say in what goes down, and always living under restrictions.

If I honestly knew what to do, how to do it, I think I would give it a try. But I think the idea of me with a house is probably laughable.

Still, it’s nice a thought.

I was 23 when we bought our house. If I could do it, you can do it. There are some good deals out there for first time home buyers, and many times you can get a mortgage on a two bedroom house that is less than rent for a two bedroom apartment. That might been getting housemate(s) to charge rent, but at least the money you put into a mortgage is going towards equity, instead of just going to the landlord.

Save. The more you can put down, the better off you are. Also, shop around for the best deal on the loan. And don't get an ARM, not that I think anyone is issuing ARMs right now. Heh.

I've been thinking a lot about that myself since my sisters came to live with me... so I've been thinking and looking (even went to see a mortgage advisor) for about six years now.

Still can't afford one; won't afford one unless I do something drastic like take a learning course and get more qualifications so I can be worth more at my job... or a proper career...? *ponders*
