Finished Outlander. Wished I'd stopped halfway through, I liked the first chunk or so way better than the end. I dunno. I'm not feeling the Jamie love so much. He's a Laird with a crime he didn't commit on his head, he can do fuck everything extremely well, he's damn near perfect of personality, he's Suffered A Lot and in the end he gets beaten tortured and raped so his perfect and noble wife of the future can save him, find god, and they can be closer and more perfect a couple than ever. I didn't hate the book, but I kinda got sick of Jamie the Perfect and Long Suffering Hero and his I can Heal, Sing, Tell Fortunes, blah blah blah wife.

Maybe I'm just not in the mood. I dunno, I love adore and worship the Lord John books. Claire, not so much.

A girl at work begged and begged and begged me to read Twilight -__- So, I'mma gonna try. Not that I think for two seconds I'll like it, but she was so fucking earnest. But, I'm also going to start Ender's Shadow while I'm at it. So those are my books for the next few weeks.

Will try to remember to get Midnight up tonight. Argh, I fail.

Heh, I don't like Claire much, either. But I kinda fell in love with Jamie along with her.

Dunno about the Twilight books, but the movie was great fun. XD In a this-movie-sucks-so-bad-I-can't-stop-laughing kinda way. They managed to put every single cliché and cheesy line ever made in there. You'd think that was impossible.

I was in actual pain over keeping the laughter in so the fangirls wouldn't kill me... Stomping the floor, biting my lip and slapping my thigh laughing. this close to rolling on the floor, too. Was kinda rolling-shifting-writhing in my chair, though.

Oh dear. Twilight.

Well, I think part of what makes it so bad is the fandom itself, but who knows. =.=;; We might see a rant here about it soon. Good luck.

I have to read Twilight too. My sister in law wants to squee over it when I see her over Christmas...>_> I'm hoping that I've read enough [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda spoilers to find it amusing and entertaining instead of just being irritated by it.

Bring on the sparklepires.

Eh, I had about the same reaction to Outlander. I managed to read about half of it, and then Claire annoyed me so much that I began to skip bits. Then I skipped more and more, then read the end to know how it ended. Jamie's Great Suffering left me rather sick to my stomach, and so I've given up on those two. *shrugs* Though I promised myself that one day I will read at the least the first Lord John book. ^-^

My Mum read ALL of the Highlander books one summer when I was in high school. I was pretty horrified as it's completely out of character for her and I was reading the sex scenes like, "Why does he keep talking about her wee ass?" "What's that warming sensation?"

Seriously, just take me to the convent.

I think Twilight will piss you off. A lot. [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda went through and did a whole chapter by chapter commentary that's a lot more entertaining to read if you're interested. She has a whole section on her wiki site here if you feel like going through it. There's links to her recaps/discussions/commentaries there too as well as other stuff.

I'm going to counter the begging with more begging to NOT read the actual books because you'll never get those hours of your life back. They will have been wasted on sparkling "vegetarian" vampires and idiotic sue's with lots of "I don't need a life, just a boyfriend" bullshit.

You think correctly! I shall have to go read the commentary.

Reading two mormon books at the same time? Brave woman.

Brave or stupid, it's hard to tell.

Don't be surprised if when reading Twilight you get a bit of a Mary-Sue vibe out of it. I started liking the series more as it continued. The first was a bit saccharine.

I thought Host, a completely separate story, was better.

A bit of Mary Sue? Dude, the book stinks of it.

Oh God, you're surrendering to Twilight. *looks up to you with awe and horror*

I don't even want to think about this series. Seriously.

Surrender, nothing. I fucking hate this book. It's like stabbing myself in the face with iron spikes.

I first read Twilight almost two years ago, when I checked it out from my school library 'cause one girl told me it was awesome and it had vampires in it(which I have a slight weakness for).

Yeah. I never saw the point. It's okay, if you're looking for a book to read to your eleven to twelve year old sister/cousin who is obsessed with boys. And then everyone started worshiping it. And I despaired for my generation of females.

Bean is probably one of my favorite characters of all time. Especially as the series progresses.

I bought 3 books in the Twilight series because 2 of my best friends love it and the first book was just so AWFUL. I figured maybe I was missing something. My friends aren't stupid. They're avid readers in their mid-20s. I never got to book 3 even though I bought it. My brain cells started committing Seppuku halfway through the first book. I'm sure my IQ dropped 20 points. I ain't think so gud now. Can I sue?
