In Oliver Stone's three-hour drama, "Alexander," Colin Farrell, as the fourth-century Macedonian conqueror Alexander the Great, has a number of tender love scenes with his best friend, Hephaistion, played by a long-haired Jared Leto. In the film, which cost about $155 million to produce, Alexander is also married to Roxane, played by Rosario Dawson, but the marriage takes a back seat to his passion for his boyhood friend.

Date: 2004-11-23 09:03 pm (UTC)As an historian, I'm all about accurately portraying people. But I'm also fully aware that getting too accurate makes for a very boring movie.
And we've butchered enough historical figures, if someone tried to bitch about a different country's portrayal of Washington, I'd track them down and beat them. IMHO Washington could use a makeover anyway XP

Date: 2004-11-23 09:11 pm (UTC)Yeah. And especially... with a slasher's mind, I think that there's something to be said about the fact that after Hephaistion died, Alexander didn't get out of bed, or eat for days.
But I suppose the majority of the world at large doesn't have a slasher's mind when it comes to certain RPS pairings...
