I'm relatively certain it's not healthy
May. 1st, 2005 10:13 pmThat my driving motivation in most ficcage is to write something just to prove it can be done (well). Or to write in genres I don't really like to read. Like sci-fi or vampires or superheroes or cowboys. My pyschological profile is, no doubt, highly unflattering. I'll have to ask my brother next time he pops up.
For instance: Yuugioh. Not really a fan, though I don't loathe the manga. Do however vehemently dislike the cartoon. But I was always passingly interested in Kaiba/Jounouchi just because I have a thing for hatred-turned-romantic and those two aren't overly fond of each other.
I know thismuch about the fandom. Yet there are so many bad and mediocre fics about them my urge to write one grows with each badfic I catch myself reading.
Who was I discussing this with? Speaking of which, I haven't forgotten the challenge given me. Tsubasa, yes? I am still pondering it, never fear. It's going to have uberkawaiipuppyo'doom!, I assure you. *grin* Was there supposed to be a dragon as well? This would be so much easier to recall if I hadn't accidently deleted the comments like the moron that I am.
Now I should really get back to writing. The problem is that I know what's going to happen so I'm lazy to actually get around to it. Much love to
rykaine for helping me figure out the problems I was having with it.

**edit** This totally random commentary on yuugioh was of course brought on by the essay at
ship_manifesto about kaiba/jou. Have I ever mentioned how much I love this comm? It's so much fun. I just wish I had a pairing I shipped enough to write about. Alas.

Date: 2005-05-02 02:31 am (UTC)What were you going to sell it for? I'll buy it off you, and pay the shipping if you like ^_~ Never let it be said I don't pay for my for crack like a good little addict should. And I have a bit of extra cash, for once. Better to spend it on manga than the 10 boxes of english tea I was going to buy XP
Yu-Gi-Oh!

Date: 2005-05-02 02:35 am (UTC)So the whole point is moot. ^_^
Glad I could help. That somehow, through all that rambling, you figured something out. I've come to realized I'm horribly verbose when I write. You should see the message I wrote in M's birthday card. I went way out into left field, when all I'd intended to do was say Happy Birthday. Points to you for worming you way through my random thoughts to resolve your issues. Nevermind, that I think I answered questions you weren't even asking. [rolls eyes]
Boxers' Rebellion was also supposed to prove that something could work. Once again, though, I think it lost itself. And I still have two other popular scenarios to prove workable and not trite. I see this not happening as I intend. I need to stop trying, I think...

Date: 2005-05-02 02:37 am (UTC)You just think too much. Serves you right for being an (anti)intellectual :P :P :P
And you make more sense than you think. Or maybe I'm just fluent in Sippese ^_^

Date: 2005-05-02 02:43 am (UTC)Overthink is what I mean by too much. I should have clarified. You and Bub take a thought, set it out on the table, consider it...then pick up the nine-tail and start flogging the bitch until it either screams for mercy or dies from blood loss.

Date: 2005-05-02 02:44 am (UTC)That'll keep me up all night thinking now.

Date: 2005-05-02 02:46 am (UTC)I didn't mean to be harsh, I was trying to exaggerate to make a point. I thought it was rather funny myself.
^^; It was supposed to make you laugh, not keep you up.

Date: 2005-05-02 02:51 am (UTC)But the imagery is enough to make me wonder, just to what do degree to I really overthinkk everything? And that's something to think about. ^_~
