Sep. 10th, 2005 03:54 pmAck. Way way behind on LJ. If there's a post you need/want me to see, drop me a link b/c I've got so many to catch up on it's a good bet I'll miss something.
So. Eyes were examined to today. My prescription of course changed, but otherwise my eyes are in perfect health! And my new glasses only cost $170.00 with EyeMed (they would have cost almost $500.00 w/out). They're reall cool! Small, and this weird geometric shape. Not something I would have thought to try myself, so I'm glad we had someone helping us. Plus! I was able to get the Flextint lenses I wanted, so they'll change according to the light. I'm mad excited - they'll be ready in two weeks, maybe I'll post pictures (becauase glasses are so exciting >_>;;).
Bought four books last night. I bought the manga version of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Caved and bought a book that caught my eye a while ago, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. It's about two Chinese women in the days of foot binding who become friends and stuff via...I think it's called "nu shu" but basically "women's writing." Sounds vaguely femslashy, I'll be interested to see to what degree that element is present. Also *finally* got Stephen King's On Writing, and will probably read it when I have a large chunk of time as King, no matter what he writes, is of the "do nothing else until this book is finished" variety. Lasty, picked up a Foxtrot book (and Sarah got another one) for to continue the marking of comics for my manifesto (in fact, I think I'll go back to marking them as my head has been killing me all day and that will be relaxing).
Now the real question of the day: All the money I've spent so far, do I have enough to preorder Anansi Boys and get the how to write/get published book I want? We'll see after Jungle Jim's, I guess.

Date: 2005-09-10 08:03 pm (UTC)Yeah, the Transistions are what I got, they just call it Flexting at Lenscrafters. Sarah's mom has it and swears it the coolest fucking thing ever (to paraphrase), so I was excited to hear I could actually afford it.
Definitely. I never trust myself to get my frames, I'd just do something boring and totally not right. But that's me, I'm sure your instinctive taste is far better.

Date: 2005-09-10 08:05 pm (UTC)I have eye problems from UV, so I need as much protection as I can get!
I was wondering how much the coating cost, and am not exactly looking forward to having my glasses made... ex-bloody-pensive, most likely.

Date: 2005-09-11 12:58 am (UTC)Oh, okay.
Speaking of packages, finally am about done with the one that is NC-bound. I have A Mankind Witch, American Gods and Good Omens in there for you, dad's rice and some jap candy. Anything else I was supposed to send? Anyone there want anything else? There's plenty of room in the box.

Date: 2005-09-11 01:06 am (UTC)Funny thing here for D. He says, if you can get to Jungle Jims (well, he said "you're fancy smancy, uppity grocery store Jumpin' Jack Flash or what-the-fuck-ever" could you maybe get him a pound of 100% (not 10% blend) pure Kona Coffee, if the $15 or whatever isn't too much to spend.
I just nodded my head and said I'll ask her. ^_^ I am ever amused.
