I just found something more fun than the flowers for Embrace. I wish I could use all this info. Man, I really want to write a story about doctors in the victorian period. I knew finally looking this stuff up would be interesting, I didn't know I'd have this much fun. Shit is whack, but it's *loads* of fun. But damn, poor people. 'Era of Quacks' is the best descrip.

The most commonly-used purgative was Calomel, a form of mercuric chloride.

So not only are you crapping all over the place, but you can have mercury poisoning too!
