Every year I do the yuletide ficathon, b/c it's hella cool to get that rare otp youll never get otherwise.

I wish there was somethihg like that for originals.

I only think of it because it's probably the only way I'll ever get the story I really want, but don't want to write, except I'm sure I'll wind up writing it anyway.

Way too complicated a thing to manage for original stories, but still.

Though, on that note, what is the premise/idea/setting/whatever that you'd all but sell your soul for?

Me, it's deserts. Complete with warring tribes, hot sheiks even hotter for each other. None of this sissy boys for the harem crap. I mean full on battle, warlords who don't want to want each other. Rivalry, enemies, whathaveyou is my ultimate weakness. Especially in the middle of a desert. Alas, I seldom see it and cannot offhand think of when I saw it really really really well done.

Going to bed now. But do tell, I love knowing what makes everyone go *__*

Though I bet I already know what I'll get from a few of you <3

And even if Tsaiko's story hates me (I'm half tempted to expand that stupid dragon drabble for you, but that tastes like cheating), Sky's story loves me. <3

I think most genre sections are intimidating. That's why I confine myself to manga and my English books. Less insanity and o_O that way.

hmm... maybe I should see what I can't plot out, then. Who does secret agent man wind up with?

Secret Agent Man winds up with either a)Cute tech who makes all his fun gear, b)Fellow agent and partner in crime, or c)One of the bad guy's henchmen whose secretly looking to turn good.

I'm partial to options A and C, but as the author you may pick whichever is easiest.

By the by, I love your Jack Bauer icons.

Secret Agent Man winds up with cute tech? *___* I like that idea.

That idea certainly does have merit. A lot of it.

Options A and C are good ones. Will have to consider and brainstorm. I do not believe I could do your genre justice, but the more I keep using Secret Agent Man, the more inspired I become. I think that shall have to be the title. *nods* Definitely. ^_^

ooh, we could combine A and C so that it's the tech who makes the gear for the bad guy who wants to turn good and make gear for the good guy. heheh

Aren't they awesome. I need to change'em up. I love Jack.

*_* A combination of my favorite options. I knew there was a reason I think you're a great writer.

You are far too giving.

I'll see what I can't come up with. But anything major will have to wait until after the ficathon is over, yeah?

No worries, I didn't mean it in a start-now-have-plot-by-the-end-of-the-week kind of way, just a whenever-you-have-the-time-and-are-inspired way.

Dude, don't go easy on her. Samantha requires more of a whips and chains approach. At the very least, you should make liberal use of epithets along the lines of h0r! slakz0r! Yellow Cab! I win!

Ah, but you see, if I'm uber nice about it then if she doesn't pull through I hit her with the guilt twice as hard. ^_^

Well, like I said, I'll see what I can cook up for you. Somewhere in the inbetween and near future. I think it'll be fun. Just be warned, it's not exactly my genre, so I may fuck it up.

I was thinking Nero Wolf-ish sorta dresscode. Any thoughts/opinions on that?

That would be cool, I love the Nero Wolf dress code, men looked good when they dressed like that.

You should teach me the joy in it then, so that I can go trolling for mysteries.

Here's roughly how I do it (and I can only tell you b/c I do it too often, ehehe ^^;;):

I start out by just sort of strolling up and down the isles. Then I start picking out the ones with covers or spines that catch my eye. From there you just sort of start to notice more. Then I go back to strolling. Lather, rinse, repeat. EVentually you just kinda start noticing more, picking up more, and the more you do it the more you get a feel for what you're looking for.

But mind you, I can do this for about five hours easy when I'm all alone. Heh. It helps LOADS if you're in a bookstore slash coffee shop.

Also troll general fiction, b/c it often carries some pretty good mysteries that are too "good" to be thrown into a specific genre.

I'll give it a shot one day when I'm not doing anything else. I want to work in the mall so I'll be down that way plenty of times. And I really do want to break into the genre.
