Every year I do the yuletide ficathon, b/c it's hella cool to get that rare otp youll never get otherwise.

I wish there was somethihg like that for originals.

I only think of it because it's probably the only way I'll ever get the story I really want, but don't want to write, except I'm sure I'll wind up writing it anyway.

Way too complicated a thing to manage for original stories, but still.

Though, on that note, what is the premise/idea/setting/whatever that you'd all but sell your soul for?

Me, it's deserts. Complete with warring tribes, hot sheiks even hotter for each other. None of this sissy boys for the harem crap. I mean full on battle, warlords who don't want to want each other. Rivalry, enemies, whathaveyou is my ultimate weakness. Especially in the middle of a desert. Alas, I seldom see it and cannot offhand think of when I saw it really really really well done.

Going to bed now. But do tell, I love knowing what makes everyone go *__*

Though I bet I already know what I'll get from a few of you <3

And even if Tsaiko's story hates me (I'm half tempted to expand that stupid dragon drabble for you, but that tastes like cheating), Sky's story loves me. <3

Two really evil characters that still care for each other.

A really good sword fight, dreadlocks, military is a very nice setting just for the uniforms, and magic is debatable, I can take or leave magic.

But I love dark stories, and I want the bad guys to win.

It would be interesting to write a story where the bad guys win. I'm not sure how it could be pulled off well, but it would def be interesting.

I have this thing for two guys who snark and fight one another, not because they're enemies on different sides of a cause, but rather just because they bloody well can and do on top of just wanting to. XD

Just the adrenaline pumping as wits and sparks fly.

Eieee!! That would rock. ^_^ And if I knew anything at all about the desert or you know, had actually been to one and was passing familiar with what they were like...*sign* I need to experience more. ;_; I can definitely see why you'd want that. XD

My soul is easily sold, so mostly, all I want is a little bit of insecurity and a happy ending and I'm golden. ^_^;; (I'm just boring like that. XD)

Hardly boring, my dear. <3

i have a suggestion . . . why not run a secret santa for original characters? it's complicated in that the person asking for the story would have to not only come up with the circumstances but also the characters. then have everyone who put in a situation and characters switch. that way, you're ensured stories. the only drawback would be someone who wants a story but doesn't write. hmmm, maybe not then.

You mention deserts and the first thing that comes to mind is the Quartz Key. ^^; Heh...

Aaand..... that's... 9.9 a really good question. >.> I have a thing for firestarters... ^^; And badboys, come to think of it. ^____^ Anti-heroes. The kind that kinda watch the so-called 'heroes' fumble around, snicker, make snarky comments, then calmly step in an mop the floor with the villians before things get too hopeless. ;)

Sweet dreams, and good luck? ^^;;

Why do I keep adding another s? When I read Maderr's post I was like "You mean like chocolate and strawberries and angel food cake...?" and then I continued reading and remembered desert =/= dessert. And I just did it again when I read your comment >.>

As I've been harping on it for the past few weeks, but I just want an honest to god Western. With outlaws and US Marshalls and high noon and mesquite and desert and guns blazing and you get the idea. I'm bored by rodeos, and ranchers are interesting for only so many pages. I just want a real fucking Western.

Probably about as desperately as you want you desert guys.

You might could organize a secret santa sorta thing--isn't that sorta what SMP does, anyhow? It would be rather difficult, I am sure, but I am also sure it could work. We can brainstorm sometime this week if you like. ^_^

Dude, I keep sitting down to start Sky's, and I get distracted. I'm all like "I know what's going on, so I don't need an early start" x_X I'm such a tragedy...
From: [identity profile] maderr.livejournal.com

Yep ^_^ And I feel your frustration. You'd think more western slash would be written. I don't know why its not.

I have this idea about a teacher (like a swordmaster) or protector who is responsible for a young prince. He tries to do the mature thing and ignore his attraction, but the prince knows the teacher loves him and he returns their love. But every time he approaches the teacher he is rejected. Alot of pain and angst, they are practically killing each other. One trying to hold true to his values and the other so desperate for his love that he is dying inside. Yeah I know I'm weird. It's been in my head for a couple of months now, but I'm not a writer, I could never do it justice.

Oh, that would be fun. It's always fun to watch the teacher (or whatever) finally fall. And in the meantime gotta lover the angst and tension.

Don't get your hopes up too fast though. ^^;; You know what I'm like. You'd probably get one or two sketchy scenes and a lot of world/character-description. :P

Yesss, I totally know what you mean with the deserts thing. Did I ever say Griffin will plop down into a desert? 'Cause he will.

And then my brain goes "because they're hot, right? :D" and I have to smack it because it has no idea what it's talking about.

But I do, must confess I have a thing for Romeo and Juliet-esque stories. You know, two people on different sides of a MILLENNIUM long battle and who are so madly in love for each other that they nearly get killed. You know. ...Yeah.

...Handcuffs.

I'm not much for the deserts, but what your're describing sounds like something I could get into.

I want more dirty little secret stories. I want stories where the boys have girls, but are sneaking around with eachother because the just can't help it. Nasty, fustrating humping in dark corners. ^_^

I want a mystery, complete with secret agents, undercover work, and killer suspense. I want meetings in dark corners and deep cover agents. I want the good guy desperately trying to keep his cover while artfully manipulating the bad guy.

I don't want the XXX kind of spy who blows his own cover and starts blowing shit up, or the James Bond type who everyone knows is a spy they just can't prove it. I want an expert, someone who can convince you he's anyone. I want him to have the enemy in the palm of his hand while still walking a tight wire to keep the lies up.

... ummm.... Speed Racer Season 2, "The Desperate Desert Race 1 & 2" has some corny desert action? (Dork XD)

When it comes to original slash, I don't have too much of an "OMG, I'd kill for that sort of story!" craving. That usually comes from fandom stuff, because I've tried my darn-dest to swear it off, but it still keeps sneaking up on me. The trouble there is that I'm off in my own little AU and fear if I requested something, it'd come out all wrong. (Mario Bros. AU keeps eatting at my brain since it discovered how to work a Wario in. --;;;;)

I really would like to read the desert, bad guys galore thing.

And really, it's all a POV. Neither side is likely to be that honest with themselves... (ie: go, yup we're the bad guys, deal with it, cos we fight so much better than you... XD;)

And yes please to the dragon/Chester. *___*

I'm going to chime in here with sci-fi. I love science fiction but sadly it's rarely done well. Which is why I'll keep plugging away at Japanese til I can read novels. Some of the excerpts I've read of Japanese sci-fi bly love novels are terrific. I also like the idea of enemies becoming lovers and of course they must be snarky and sarcastic. My other favorite would have to be pirates! andif the two are combined !space pirates! and there's a happy ending, then I'm a little wibbling pile of goo.

Well, no Slash for me, but I do so love the ladies in armor.

It's a bit too overdone to have all the battle girls and swords wenches dressed in bikinis or bedazzled thongs while amongst the hordes fighting. I mean, I love a pretty lady in next-too-nothing as much as the next man, but not on the battlefield. There's just something to be said for the battle-hardened warriors, too battle-scarred to be beautiful and too experienced to care. Broken armor, battered shields, bent blades, tired eyes; that's a fucking fighter.

Fuck, go read about the battle of Pelennor Field in Return of the King. That's the kind of story that turns my crank. Army-against-army, dynamic heroism amongst murderous odds, vicious magics wielded by a powerful few, and mortal weakness against immortal terror. That's a story.
