Digital cameras

There are two sparklies these days that I want, and which I would make good use of - one is an ipod, the other a digital camera. Of the two, the camera seems more practical (though if I get one more sketchy asshole on the bus harassing me I may go for the ipod - the headphones on my current player no longer work so it's getting harder and harder to avoid them).

Advice? Any recs? It's going to be my birthday present to myself, so I have time to save up a bit of money, though I'd like not to go over three hundred. There was one I loved, waterproof and shockproof, but the pricetag was a little high. I might get one of the kodak ones, they seem the best of the lot so far...

Genius has some cheap ones, maybe about....70 USD? about 5 megapixels. But i'm not sure about quality. Sony cybershots. the new moels are about 1 centimetre thick 2.5 inch screen, and 6 megapixels. Nice. About, 300 bucks for the slightly older versions(which are pretty much the same with a little less megapixels) but definitely more for the newest. Try to find BenQ or Panasonic ae well. Cheaper, but it's actually pretty much the same quality as sony. Kodak eludes my knowledge of tech. Sorry.
