I really hate when I look forward many days to reading something as a treat and it winds up fsking sucking.

Dude, characters cannot change that drastically in the span of 33 pages. Rae does not go from throwing snits (and objects) to 'an ode to thee, my beauty...' No, no. A hundred pages later, he will still be throwing shit. At Benedict. With enthusiasm. Benedict will still be purposely driving him to it. With glee.

So, a badass pirate captain can not be crude and vulgar and something of an ass and then 30 pages later sound like he fell out of one of my fairytales. Seriously. So disappointed. I love pirate stuff. But not when they go from RAWR DRAGON to He walks in beauty like the night...

*shakes head*

**reads the third paragraph again, starts laughing, sneezes, finishes laughing** Okay, if I were reading something for serious and a character did that, it would piss me off. It really gets me when they got that shit published. IE: Kitai up til about midway through the furies of Calderon = kickass. Kitai after water dunking = fucking fairytale princess. (Seriously, how do you go from kicking a guys ass and insulting him every chance you get to being outshone by him, saved by him at least twice, and then end up being NICE to him for the rest of the book.) ....Yes. I'm currently holding a grugde in that area.

And I have to admit, if Rae, for some reason or other, wrote an ode to thee, my beauty I'd be curious to see what he'd manage to say that wasn't actually insulting.

I agree with Tygati: Rae could write poetry for Benedict, as long as it was sarcastic, insulting, and then, as a surprise, ended with an inkwell dropped over Benedict's head. That? Totally in-character.

The book you're talking about? Not so much. What is it, so I can avoid it in the future?

Yeah, I've been trying to fix the text, I hate when it reverts it back to default when I change styles.

It's under 'style contest' and I just went with the preset 'magic paper' them

Well, I said that, then I hit "post comment" and lo, everything was on the other side and the text was fixed.

hmm... I'm impressed they had anything good. As I really wasn't impressed with all those other ones they added on.
