I can't win

I so can't fucking win.

Last night, to make my life easier, I seperated out the flashbacks from the present day in Dark Paladin. Added a new flashback, touched up two more.

This morning...

My computer reset itself while I was in the shower.

I though I'd saved them. I didn't.

So now they're all gone.

15 pages gone. The only 15 pages of the story I liked.

I proceed to cry now.

If it's any consolation... though I doubt... you are not alone. I lost a very important paper for school that way, and had to spend the whole night up translating and typing it again. Not to mention some story fragments that were lost to the evils of WinME back in the day...

What program were you writing in? Any Word ones should be able to recall the document.

agreed. it's almost impossible to lose something written since all text processing programs have autosave options. in msword the document automatically reappears after restart as for any others it's just the matter of finding save path.

I had that happen with my thesis once. Another time, I thought I'd lost an assignment, but Word recovered it the next time I opened the program... *crosses fingers*

As much as I hate to say this, but it might be best if you just back off from the story. That's what I had to do with the section of my thesis I lost. :( I hope your day gets better.

aaaaaawww, that really sucks. does you computer have the feature where if it does that then when u open word or whatever again it will tell you that it found the files and u just need to save them? (I don;t know what this feature is called but i know my comp does it) if it doesn't, then im so sorry. to put so much work into something and then have it go byebye!... not fun at all. Do whatever you think is best. I fyou need to take some time to mourn, as it were, then you should do so, or you can keep moving on. whatever you want. i know i wouldnt begrudge you if you left black magic off for a bit until you feel up to it again. Hope your able to find it, though!

*pats on back* You have our support and many of us remember when we lost things from our computer restarting on accident/turing off. We'll try to offer comfort but there not much we can do except offer internet hugs/chocolate/roses/fanart/whatever makes you happy. No one will rush to to finish things or else*glares* BACK OFF RUSHERS AND RESPECT THE AUTHOR'S PAIN!!! Anyway, we hope you the best in trying to remember what you wrote. And in answer to a previous asked question since the computer restarted Word doesn't save. The non-saved things only appear when your computer gets turned off.
And since no one has offered you flowers for your loss here @~`~ I had to ask around on how to make it. Flowers make people happy, though ice-cream may be better.
...Looking back on my comment does it seem like a letter of sympathy? ^_^;

I'm so sorry; I know exactly how you feel. I once was writing a story, and then the 3-5 chapters that I hadn't fully finished got destoryed because my Dad reset the computer. I then totally gave up on that story, I was so depresed.
