Cause aren't we always?

Nikery tried to distract me today by discussing merman ^_~ and I wondered how they would differ from ocean to ocean and that reminded me I wanted to write a story for [livejournal.com profile] tailtales involving a merman and a more ursula-type merman. squidman. whatever.

Except I really don't feel like building merpeople societies quite yet. Still, it's popping up more and more frequently in my head, which means it'll probably start yammering and banging up there before much longer.

Get enough slush in me and who knows, maybe I'll get fed up with knight-speak (because oh let me tell you what a pain in the ass that tone can be to keep correct) and switch naughty sea creatures.

*EDIT*

Still waiting for slush to reach a good-enough consistency. In the meantime, playing with my eternal favorite - amaretto. Odd choice for me to favor, because it's so sweet, but I am fond.

I know a lot of people don't drink b/c they don't like the taste of alcohol. If that is you, I recommend this:

Amaretto
Ginger Ale
Cranberry juice.

Uh, don't ask me measurements. I use a rocks glass, maybe a quarter of that amaretto, a healthy splash of cranberry and the rest ginger ale ^^;; Measuring is for wusses.

Yay! Tentacles! Merpeople should communicate by 'song' like whales. Cold water mers should have blubber and tropical mers should be more boney. The cold water ones might have some glowing patterns for the dark waters. Will they have two forms (land and sea)or just water adapted? Squid people might communicate more by colour and skin patterns - which would be good for big misunderstandings between the two species. And would there be fresh water and salt water species of both?

Have a slush or two for me - I'm not allowed alcohol on top of the meds! Sigh.

Heh. Wow, optios. I think I'd stick with just sea-type in this case, no idea what freshwater would entail ^^;

I like the glowing idea, and blubber -- good point. Also awesome points for the squid people. See, this is why I avoid ocean. The details, they overwhelm me.
