Dear Stephen King,

I love you. As much as parts of it freak me out and make me fret, On Writing also makes me feel much better. Thanks for the help.

Most Sincerely,
Megan Derr

P.S. Still love Neil Gaimen more.

First off. Woke up at two am worried sick. About what, I don't know. Either something is wrong with someone close to me, or my mind blissfully deleted another freaky dream but couldn't get rid of the fear and worry fast enough.

Reading On Writing is very reassuring. But it also pointed out the one thing I lack that is probably going to screw me over - a writer's resume. I've never really submitted my stories anywhere. Largely becaus I'm not quite sure where one submits slashy romantic frivolous crap stories of the sort I write. I'm too slashy for the romance world, too romance for most everything else and too lacking in the plotless porn for the slashdom (or wtfever you want to call it).

Mergh. Anyway. I reccomend On Writing with every fiber of reccomending in me.

In other news, I can see telling you peeps about the mailing list was a bad, bad idea for poor Megan.

Muses slowly coming back to me, thankfully. And I haven't forgotten about Robin, it's just I seem to have lost his smartass tone. But it looks like I'll have lots of time to write this weekend (one of the things King mentioned is that he writes 2000 words a day - which I was surprised by. If I had more time, I could do that *easy*) so hopefully I shall be able to prove that yes, I am still writing.

So far as work goes, >_> I really wish it was Friday and not Thursday.

Oh, well. Thanks, my darlings. You're the best.

Friday will come fast enough, but remember that Monday always seems to come faster.

I think I've worked out--sorta almost maybe?--something for Cobin and the sea monster. Let me organize it in my head and I'll pass it off for approval or whatnot.

Awww. You don't like five bajillion e-mails in your mailbox? I thought that's why you got a yahoo e-mail? Just for that board.

In other news, I did this just for you!

I would try fantasy publishers first. Your stories are mostly romance but they also are almost all fantasy and I've been told fantasy publishers actually like slash.

Also even if you're scared you should submit stuff. You could get some really valuable tips out of it and the more you know the better chance you have of getting published sooner.

Lol! You could go around crossing out half the 'he's' and insert 'she's'. ^___- I think if it's romance try the romance market....? :shrugs:

I am saddened that History of Violence isn't being released this week in Ohio. I'll be sure to post invites when I see it is out.

I'm guessing you still have that picnic on Saturday anyway so I'll miss C.Bride with you and S.

Although the movie is my second choice, I wonder if I could convince you to see Lord of War with me perhaps this next Monday/Tuesday night? I've heard it's good.

Sorry, this Friday is the last time for the next 3/4 months I'll have time for one. I'm booked solid through for work overtime until the Project From Fucking Hell is completed.

D'oh!

Or translation: You hate me.

Well, I'll give you 3/4 months to cool off. BTW, is that a 3/4 month or 3-4 months? The latter is a long time to go without any Megan.

How about your roommate, or does she hate the Tony for 3/4 months too?

Ditto on the On Writing rec, but you knew that already. :o) The line that I remember, forever and always, from that book is "Kill your darlings." That line that you LOVE LOVE LOVE, but you move it everywhere in the story and it just doesn't fit. Kill it. That's happened to me so many times and I just tell myself, "Kill your darlings."
