Or have them in a typical Bond-gets-captured-by-bad-guy-and-strapped-to-laser situation and McGyver tries to help and Bond gets out anyway?

I can just SO see Bond and McGyver battling it out--high tech vs. slap-and-dash. Then after that, hooking up over beers.

I don't think you could EVER do something completely random that everyone will hate, because 1) SQUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (at everything you've ever written) and 2) finding things that everyone will agree on is just hard.
