I like this story, I really do, but the romanji is making me cry.

It's just my schooling, and whoever wrote this came from a different school, but it still hurts.

Aurigato? Sipukku? Soji?

*goes to get more alcohol*

Seriously, the story is good. It's very Japanese in flavor, right down to the weeping men. Hee.

I love Japanese fiction. I've read The Mask like four times, as well as others.

It's just that me and the author should probably never discuss Japanese and the best way to transliterate it.

I've never known it. I'm glad I don't. Comparing it to what I know, and to the original Japanese, it causes me physical pain.

It was the standard for a long time until Japan itself finally decided to draw up a real one. -.-

May hepburn be banished to the furthest most arcane corner of linguistic study, and never be seen by the general public or a student of Japanese ever again.

That is not Hepburn. At least as far as I remember I learned Hepburn, and the only differences were a "Shi" instead of a "Si", a "Tsu" instead of a "Tu" and a "Chi" instead of a "Ti". Really, I think all Westeners learn Hepburn.

I suppose that's just somebody who does not know Japanese.

That does look wokey, doesn't it? I learned it hepburn system, as that's what they use now. What y'all are thinking of is the Munbushou system, or Kunrei Shiki. Logic says I know why they changed it, and that I love the Hepburn system much more, but it's still really weird to look at.
